German Apple Cake with Caramel Topping

I bought some apples that my son didn’t care too much for; he’s a Gala apple only type of guy, but I didn’t want to waste the apples and I’m not a huge fan of pies so I decided to make some sort of apple cake. I came across an apple cake recipe and like most all of the things I make, I found a few other recipes and adjusted the ingredients from each and made this. The caramel sauce isn’t a true caramel sauce, as in I didn’t cook the sugar first, but it is still amazing!

Peanut Butter Cocolate Chip Cookies

I’ve been on a cookie making spree lately, but that’s simply because I love to eat frozen cookies. I think I prefer them over fresh from the oven warm cookies. I love these cookies because they remind me of a Reese’s peanut butter cup only in a cookie form. mmmmyummmm!

Peanut Butter Cookies

I made chocolate chip cookies the other day as a treat. When my dad found out, he wanted some too, but having teenage boys in the house, those cookies were long gone by then. So I decided to make some more along with these peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies. They store well in the freezer in baggies or in an airtight container. This makes it easy to take a few out at a time for a treat without all the fuss of making cookies right then. I’m a sucker for frozen cookies though, so I don’t let them thaw. There is just something magical about biting into an ice cold cookie.. at least for me anyway!

Potato and Chicken Stew In Crockpot

This winter has been crazy. One or two snowstorms or blizzards each winter is what we usually get and then it’s just cold weather we have to put up with. But this year, it keeps teasing us with beautiful Spring-like 70 degree weather.. just before it gives us another ice/snow storm. The white slick stuff just started to melt today and now we’re getting ready for ice again tonight and tomorrow. I think I still prefer the occasional crazy winter like this more than our brutal summers of continuous humid 110+ weather.  ~sigh~ Bring on the snow, ice and more stew!

Vanilla Cinnamon Fry Bread

The fun thing about cooking is, it doesn’t always have to be exact. You can get in the kitchen and throw some ingredients together and have fun experimenting. My boys and I were getting hungry, it was after 2 in the morning and since I’ve neglected to go grocery shopping lately, we were at the mercy of whatever we could find in the kitchen.

Spicy Breakfast Sausage

We have been cooking sausage in this house it seems like non-stop. I still can’t get over how much better homemade sausage tastes versus store bought. I love spicy foods, but I’ve never really been a fan of spicy sausage because of how it tasted.. Until now. I made this sausage and we ate it on toast. All of it. It was supposed to be for breakfast through the week, but it didn’t last that long. It’s the perfect level of spiciness; not too mild and not burn your mouth off hot. Pure awesomeness!

Maple Breakfast Sausage

Sweet maple sausage. Is there anything better? I think not. My family loves to eat these on top of homemade buttered waffles. With the maple syrup in this sausage, there’s no need to add any to the waffle. This is the perfect breakfast when you need to eat on the go, just place some sausage in between two waffles and enjoy!

Coffee Grinder

I’ve tried a couple different expensive coffee grinders. Either they were entirely too hard to clean because they had a shoot that the coffee grounds went down and I could never clean it out because it wasn’t detachable, or they were just mediocre in the grinding capability. I didn’t want to spend so much money on something that was just ok. Then I tried this one. It’s cheap, easy to use and most importantly, easy to clean! You can find it here:  http://amzn.to/LrZOqi

Lemon Molasses Health Booster Drink

We all know lemon juice helps the immune system because of the high vitamin C content. It also helps keep the body more alkaline which fights off other nasty bugs. But most people don’t know how healthy unsulphured molasses is..

Beef Alfredo Stroganoff

Today was one of those Mondays where nothing went right and I was not in a good mood. At one point I was ready to give into my desperate cravings and go to the nearest hamburger place to get a combo with a milkshake, but luckily I waited it out and then decided to use bits and pieces of different foods I had in the fridge and I am glad I did.

I didn’t have quite enough ingredients to make stroganoff, nor did I have enough to make alfredo sauce either. So I made the next best things, by combining the two and the results were out of this world!
